He got the name General Degree from Veteran Dancehall Artiste General Trees.  He was a tailor by profession before doing music. He has been performing live for over 20 years.

His musical career began in 1992 with his first recorded song called ‘Mother Rule Pickney’ and his first Official released song called ‘Dry Weather House’.

He explained why he would rather be seen as a dancehall icon and not a Veteran as he praised veteran Dancehall Artistes such as King Yellow Man and Josey Wales.

He grew up listening to his favorite artistes such as Professor Nuts, Lieutenant Stichie and Papa San. He also gave credit to young generation artistes such as Agent Sasco, Busy Signal, Romaine Virgo & Christopher Martin for being very versatile and original in their music. “They are very good at what they do and they have mastered they’re craft’’ said General Degree.
