Florida mayor bans Donald Trump after he suggests blocking Muslims
Florida Mayor Rick Kriseman announced via Twitter that he is banning Donald Trump from his city.
Kriseman made the declaration on Monday after Trump called on the United States to halt all Muslims from entering the country “until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.”
The St. Petersberg mayor tweeted that he was banning Trump “until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps.” The mayor’s jab was reportedly retweeted more than 1,200 times in about an hour.
Trump’s proposed ban is in response to what he called hatred among “large segments of the Muslim population” toward Americans. He also said the ban should be implemented “until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses.”
Trump's suggestions were quickly condemned by fellow Republican and Democratic candidates alike.
