General Degree - 1ON1 Live Interview - Talks about Music Industry, Music Career & Success , talk

Iconic Dancehall Artiste General Degree is still hot and in full swing even after a two decade musical career. The ‘’TRAFFIC BLOCKING’ Hit maker elaborated on his musical career and accomplishments in a recent interview on the RayeBann Entertainment 1ON1 Special Feature Show. He got the name General Degree from Veteran Dancehall Artiste General Trees. He was a tailor by profession before doing music and has been performing live for over 20 years.

His musical career began in 1992 with his first recorded song called ‘Mother Rule Pickney’ and his first Official released song called ‘Dry Weather House’.

He went on to explained why he would rather be seen as a dancehall icon and not as a Veteran as he praised veteran Dancehall Artistes such as King Yellow Man and Josey Wales.

He grew up listening to his favorite artistes such as Professor Nuts, Lieutenant Stichie and Papa San. He also gave credit to young generation artistes such as Agent Sasco, Busy Signal, Romaine Virgo & Christopher Martin for being very versatile and original in their music. “They are very good at what they do and they have mastered they’re craft’’ said General Degree. He described his style of music as original, clever, truthful & critical. He got his biggest break when he recorded the song ‘GRANNY’ which brought him to stardom.

He also elaborated on the passing of late Dancehall Artiste J Capri and the friendship they had and expressed his grief on her passing.

When asked if he had the opportunity to change something in today’s music industry, what would it be? He said he would take music back to the grass root, to where it all started from because some of these younger generation artistes is making music for Jamaica and not for the world and that they should take a page from the older artiste’s book.

General Degree told RayeBann Entertainment that he has also produced hit songs such as 'Follow the Arrow' by Bounty Killer & 'Here Comes The Rain Again' by Chrissy D on his Size8 Records & Pretty Boy Record label.

His song Bambalam was recently licensed by Zumba Dance Workout Company and his also featured on their mega mix cd with over 300 videos on YouTube with millions of views.

He is promoting new singles such as 'A You Mi Come Fah' and 'Feeling Irie' and is currently working with Big Yard Studios, Bobby Digital & Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden.
