J Capri's funeral date revealed: Deejay to be 'sent home' in style on Monday

The funeral service for J Capri will be held next week Monday, December 14th at 10 am at the UWI Chapel, Mona, St Andrew.

"This was the only date that I could get or else she would have to be buried next year and I didn't want to have her on ice so long, so I am going to put her down on Monday," a distraught Kenneth Phillips, father of J Capri, told Claude Mills of Loop Jamaica.

Artistes who have been confirmed to perform at the funeral service include Alaine, Christopher Martin and Cherine Anderson.

There will also be a celebration of her life at an event this Saturday at Little Copa featuring selectors such as ZJ Smurf, ZJ Liquid ad Boom Boom. Rising dancehall artiste Jahmiel is also slated to perform at this event.

"We are going to celebrate her life, she was a fantastic person, a star gone too soon, but we are going to celebrate her short but incredible life, and all that she stood for. We are going to send her home with style," Mr Phillips said.

J Capri, 23, given name Jordan Phillips, was hospitalised on November 23rd after her vehicle overturned. Reports said a car she was driving slammed into a wall in Barbican Square about 3 am. She was rushed to hospital following the collision.

She is suspected to have died not directly from injuries to her brain but from bacterial infection (sepsis). The sepsis triggered massive renal failure (kidney), medical personnel theorise. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.

J Capri is known for songs such as Wine and Kotch with Charly Blacks, Pull Up To Mi Bumpa with Konshens and more recently, Boom and Ben Over.
