Star Trek actor vacation in Jamaica, says our smoothies are better
Smoothies made in Jamaica are much better than the ones made in Los Angeles, according to a prominent Hollywood actor.
An award-winning actor more widely known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Sir Patrick Stewart and his musician wife Sunny Ozell are vacationing on the beautiful island.
On Sunday, Sir Patrick tweeted a photo of himself and his wife sipping smoothies from what appears to be the balcony of a villa. In the caption, he told his two million followers: “Man, the smoothies they make in Jamaica are somehow A LOT more delicious than the ones in Los Angeles”.
The tweet attracted 500 retweets and 3,300 likes in five hours. Los Angeles is known to have an impressive ‘smoothies scene’ with a wide variety of shops dedicated to the product.
It represents the latest endorsement of Jamaica’s tourism product – which is on pace to attract a new annual arrivals record in 2015 – by an international star via social media.
A couple weeks ago, Electronic Dance Music star Bassnectar told his 242,000 twitter followers that he was “Taking a weekend off to worship the sun in Jamaica”, a statement which attracted a retweet by the Jamaica Tourist Board.
Earlier this year, the internet exploded when international superstar Alicia Keys shared a photo of herself on Instagram doing a remake of Jamaica’s most famous promotional poster.
