Cookie Lyon Named Time Magazine’s Most Influential Fictional Character Of 2015
Cookie is on top as Fox’s empire lives on!
While viewership may be dropping, influence has not when it comes to Lee Daniels’ hit Fox drama and its lead character, Cookie Lyon. Time magazine has just released a list of the 16 Most Influential Fictional Characters of 2015 and right at the top is Mrs. Lyon, played by our favorite ’round the way girl, Taraji P. Henson.
According to Time Magazine, with her high-drama scheming and higher-drama wardrobe, the Lyon family matriarch (played by Taraji P. Henson) was the biggest draw on TV’s most popular new show, Empire, luring more than 13 million viewers a week. In addition to spawning countless memes and catchphrases, she also helped inspire a clothing line at Saks Fifth Avenue. As Cookie herself said, “That’s my name. Take a bite.”
It’s worth noting that Cookie is the only Black character on the list, making her position in the top spot all the more sweet. Plus, after the way Taraji had her girls’ backs at the Emmys she deserved another accolade of her own.
