Emergency surgeries only as repairs commence at Spanish Town Hospital
The Spanish Town hospital has closed its operating theatre for a period of five weeks as it conducts urgent renovations.
A release from the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) stated that during the period of closure, only emergency surgeries will be done at the hospital, while routine elective surgeries will be done at St Joseph’s Hospital in Kingston.
Arrangements have also been made for urgent elective surgeries to be done at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).
The renovation of the Spanish Town Hospital operating theatre was said to be a part of SERHA’s drive to improve operating theatres at the nine hospitals that fall under its jurisdiction.
